9 Tips on Using Eye Contact to Deliver Great Speeches

tips on making eye contact

3. Make random eye contact.

It is often said that when talking to a big crowd you should try to make eye contact with everyone in the room. Don’t take this advice too literally and force yourself to look at everyone. If you’re going to look at the members of the audience, do it in a random pattern. Look at someone at the front left of the audience, then to someone from the far right, then perhaps go to the middle and spot someone. Be totally random.
